About Floratarian Relief
Hello!
I am an MFA Art student at UCI who recently became acquainted with Dr. Peter Bowler & the University of California, Irvine Arboretum.
Dr. Bowler notified me that approximately half of the UCI Arboretum will be bulldozed beginning on January 20, 2021 as part of the UCI North Campus redevelopment.
As a life-long lover of plants, I feel an irresistible drive to do whatever I can to save these plants before it is too late. In November, I began moving the plants and adopting them out to new families. For a period time, I was able to invite individuals into the arboretum to come dig their own plants and experience the magic the space.
Unfortunately, with the new surge of Covid-19 and the corresponding stay-at-home order, I can no longer bring individuals into the arboretum except for a few isolated appointments. Please email me to arrange one (see below).
This effort has been supported by our amazing Southern California community and a number of wonderful volunteers.
Please take a look at what is available and feel free to reach out to me with any questions you have about varieties, quantities, care, etc. You can email me at iguild [at] uci.edu and I will get back to as quickly as I can.
To help offset the cost of relocating the plants, please consider donating to the Floratarian Relief project through this page.
